Index BANK NIFTY Futures and Options Expiry Day Changed to Friday from Thursday. The first Friday expiry will be on July 14, 2023. No change in Nifty 50 Futures and Options expiry day and remain as it is on Thursday.
National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) announced new changes in Bank Nifty Expiry Day on June 06, 2023, under Circular 56967.
Currently, the Bank Nifty Futures and Options (F&O) Weekly expiry is every Thursday, and Monthly Expiry is the last Thursday of the month. For Weekly and Monthly expiry, if there is a trading holiday on Thursday then the previous active trading day will be an expiry day, i.e. if trading is active on Wednesday and there is a holiday on Thursday then Wednesday will be considered for expiry day.
On June 06, 2023, the new changes made to the Bank Nifty Expiry, as per Circular 56967 the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) announced that the Bank Nifty Expiry day has been changed from Thursday and is set to Friday, this will be effective from July 07, 2023.

The below is from the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) Circular 56967 which needs to be implemented while trading BANKNIFTY contracts.
- Change of BANKNIFTY Futures and Options expiry day from existing THURSDAY to FRIDAY.
- The above shall be effective from trade date July 7, 2023 Friday and accordingly, all existing contracts with Thursday expiry will be revised to Friday on July 6, 2023 EOD.
- The first FRIDAY expiry will be on July 14, 2023.
